There Is A Light At the End Of the Tunnel.. Spring Is Here

Good evening to all my favorite fashionholics,

As I stated in my title, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Exams are almost over and those final grades are almost in and then... IT'S SUMMER TIME! Thank God, right? No more papers, projects, tests, quizzes, etc. Now all you have to worry about is when, where, and what time you're going to the beach. Sounds perfect to me!

Spring time is one of my favorite seasons. The flowers are blooming, the birds are nesting, and the sun shines a little brighter, which means, it's time to switch up your wardrobe! AHHHHHH! I love the sound of those words. I'm really good at shopping and blowing all my money (remember this is a judge free zone, since we are in a fashionholics meeting) and a new wardrobe is music to my ears. Let's get started with the spring outfits, shall we?

Spring Outfit

This definitely will be hanging in my closet for a spring time must outfit. It's colorful, cool, and collected. Jean shirts are a new thing this season, you see people wearing them with white pants, black leggings, and now with some coral shorts! You can find a jean shirt anywhere (Target, Forever 21, Kohl's, etc.) Add a floral scarf, a turquoise and coral/gold bracelet, and a tan purse and you're all set! Be a trend setter, not a follower. You'll totally rock this outfit.

Spring Hairstyle
To go along with your new spring outfit, here is a new spring hairstyle. This is easy as one, two, three and you'll be out the door and looking' good. Just follow the simple steps above for this easy half up / half down hairstyle!

Spring Makeup
Since it's spring time, you really don't need a lot of makeup, especially because it's like 100 degrees out (literally). So, just keep it simple with a light powder foundation and light corals and pinks to brighten your features!

Spring Nails
So, I have another confession to make... I am obsessed with Essie Nail Polish.. I collect it. I know, I know, but that's why I'm here. I'm trying to get better.. I feel much better after that confession.. Anyway, Essie has a ton of great spring time colors, see the picture above for a few of the colors. Go out and pamper yourself now and then with a nice mani/pedi.

Well, that's it for this week fashionholics. Good luck on the rest of your exams and remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it!

Kisses,
Sam

"As We Go On, We Remember, All the Times We, Had Together.."

Good evening fashionholics and welcome back to confessional,

This is a bitter sweet post today because I am going to be giving advise on what to wear to graduation (hence the blog title today). Not only is this an extremely exciting time in life, but it's also one of the scariest. Getting out in the real world, working a real job, having a real boss, apartment, and bills. It's a little overwhelming, but it's a really great overwhelming feeling. At this point, you're probably sitting in your room packing it up and just sitting on the floor with a box of tissues and pictures from the last four years of your life. You probably don't even know why you're crying, but that's ok! BECAUSE YOU'RE GRADUATING!!!!! I would like to be the first one to say CONGRATULATIONS, YOU DID IT GRADUATE! You should be so thrilled and I know all of you're families are so proud of you. Phew, I'm getting a little teary eyed myself.. Alright, ok, let's get down to business.

Now, for most girls, a nice, simple, white dress would suffice, but not for you. No. You my friend, are going to rock that cap and gown with a beautiful dress that will have all the audience member's heads turning, but for those of  you who do want to keep the traditional white dress, I do have some options for you. It just may not be as traditional as you want...

Traditional White Dress #1

This is simple, but has a touch of danger. It's not your traditional white dress, but it's gorgeous and has the touch of sassiness you need to say, "Hey world, I'm graduating today!"

This is classy, lacy, and spicy! This is the perfect combination of cute and sexy, which is a great way to show everyone how grown up you are and that you are now a beautiful, young woman ready to take on the world with her college degree.

So, now that we've seen what traditional white dresses we can wear, let's take a look at some fun colorful dresses for the big day.

Colorful Dress #1
This is probably my all time favorite dress . It hits all the right curves, is the perfect color for a Spring graduation, and all eyes will definitely be on you. You honestly can't go wrong with this dress.

Colorful Dress #2

This is another great dress for graduation day. It's cute, comfy, and all the right colors. People will be asking you left and right where you got your gorgeous dress from, so be prepared!

Sniffle, sniffle.. time is going by way too fast. Growing up really makes you appreciate life and all the  family and friends in it. You should always cherish those precious moments, never regret anything you do, and to always have a smile on that pretty little face of yours.

That's all for this week fashionholics. It's been one crazy, busy, exciting semester and I can't wait what's in store for next year. Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it!

P.S. We aren't saying goodbye, just see you later.

Kisses,
Sam

Here Comes Mr. Cotton Tail..

Good evening Fashionholics,

I am totally counting down the days until summer vacation! I can't believe finals are next week already..where did the time go?!?! Anyway, enough with the sappy stuff. This Sunday coming up is Easter Sunday! Easter egg hunts, Church, chocolate, coloring eggs, celebrating Jesus, CHOCOLATE... Easter Sunday is a great day! For all you out there not knowing what to wear on Easter, you're in the right place! Let's get started.

Easter Outfit
Not only is this a great dress for Church, but it's also a great dress for an Easter picnic or brunch at grandma's house. All you need is a set of pearls, some 2 carat earrings (see what I did there?) and a pair of white sandals and you're all set for an Easter Sunday!

Shoe Option #1

These are a pair of white sandals you could totally rock with that yellow Easter dress!

Shoe Option #2

If you want to dress it up a little bit, then a pair of neutral wedges will get the job done. Not only are these wedges Spring ready, but they are also super comfy, which is perfect for an active Easter Sunday of running around with baby cousins, nieces and nephews to go Easter egg hunting!

Jewelry #1

Here are those two carat earrings I had mentioned before as well! Simple and gorgeous.. need I say more?

Jewelry #2

If you want to get even more in the holiday spirit, then add a bunny watch! This super cute bunny watch is going to have everyone jealous and wanting one!

Well, that's it for this week fashionholics! I hope you enjoy your Easter Sunday.. Remember to always have your confidence in your back back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it!

Kisses,
Sam

To the Max...

Hey all you fashionholics out there,

I hope you showed your peers how to rock that denim jacket/vest with confidence! Now that we are one week closer to finals, some of us may be focusing more on our academics than looks, but guess what? You can do both! Hallelujah right? Trust me, I know. I'm going to show you how to still look good with little effort and how to wear a maxi skirt because lets be real... maxi's are way comfy and entail little effort.
Maxi Skirt Outfit #1
Cute, right? A simple black maxi skirt, white tank top, brown braided belt and a colorful scarf is perfect for when you're feeling lazy and want to just throw something on.

Hair Style #1
So, if you're not feeling up to doing your hair, it's all right because all you have to do is follow this quick picture tutorial and you've got your full look in less than 10 minutes.

Maxi Skirt Outfit #2
This outfit is one of my personal favorites because I like to change it up and not be the same as everyone else wearing black maxi skirts. Take this as be yourself and not who everyone else wants you to be. I'm done preaching, I promise... Back on topic, this is a very simple maroon/cranberry maxi skirt, with a white long sleeve crop top and a fancy belt.. that's it. So simple, right?

Hair Style #2

For the second outfit, I think putting your hair up would polish off the look and this picture tutorial will help you achieve the look you're going for.

As for makeup, keep it classy and light. You don't need to put on a pound of makeup just to take some notes.

Well that's it for this week fashionholics. Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it.

Denim is the New Fad

Happy Sunday fashionholics,

I hope your spring break was as relaxing as mine and your beachy outfits were totally beaching. Even though spring break is resting in peace, our school work is not. It's crunch time for the next 4 weeks of school, so lets go out with a bang. Every season there is always a new fad that is born and this season denim is that new fad. I'm about to show you how to wear denim jackets and denim vests.

Denim Jacket Outfit #1
This is a perfect spring outfit. It's comfy, cool, and cute. A floral dress, nude shoes, and denim jacket are perfect for strolling around campus, dreaming of summer. The outfit is a perfect combination of keeping cool outside in the blistering heat and keeping the goose bumps away in the classroom.

Hair styles for Denim Wear

This is a super easy way to get those relaxed curls you've always wanted. Put your hair in a high pony tail, separate your hair into two sections, curl with a curling iron, take out the hair band, spray with hairspray, and you're ready to go!

Denim Vest Outfit #1

So, for all of you out there who don't want to wear a denim jacket, there is such a thing as denim vest, which is just as cute, if not cuter than a denim jacket. Black jeans, a white t-shirt, denim vest, and white converse is the perfect outfit for a long day of school.

Well, that's all for this week fashionholics! Good luck with the last few weeks of school. Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it.

Kisses,
Sam

Spring, Sprung, Sprang Break

Good evening my fellow fashionholics,

I hope the rain washed all your worries away and you stayed warm and dry with your new kick ass rain boots. This week is all about relaxation, the sun, toes in the sand, sun kissed tan, beach, beach, beach, oh yeah, and more beach. If you can't tell already, this passed week has been spring break or as everyone this year has been calling it, "sprang break." Don't ask me why. I try not to understand the minds of drunk, absurd, college kids that still have a lot of growing up to do. Any who,  this week we will go over beach styles for those going to the beach and for those sun kissed bodies after the beach.

That picture is super cool, right? It has nothing to do with fashion, I just really liked it. Let's get started.

Spring Break Outfit #1
Ahhh, don't you just love the sound of the ocean, the sand between your toes (and everywhere else on your body), the warm sun on your skin, and the seagulls stealing your snacks? I know I do. While getting ready for the beach, you want to make sure that you are going to have a cover up that is comfortable because you don't want something tight or heavy because most likely you will have a sunburn, so keep it casual with a simple pullover dress. For those who like to protect their faces or who don't want to get raccoon eyes, then get a large, floppy hat to wear. It's super adorable and will protect your face from the fierce sun's rays.

No makeup is needed for the beach. Give that pretty face of yours a day of relaxation too. However, this is the perfect excuse to try out those beach waves you've been dying to do to your hair. Don't know how or what to use? Well, you're in luck because I have the ingredients and a step by step tutorial.
Sea Spray for your hair
You can make this in your apartment in no time at all and it's all natural, so it's healthy for your hair. Now here is the step by step tutorial on how to get the beach waves.

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3...4, 5, 6. Alright, now for the next outfit.

Spring Break Outfit #2

What a great outfit for spring break. This is light weight, and has light colors to show off that great tan that you have now. This is great for a night out on the town or even to take a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. Add some accessories and you will have everyone turning their heads staring at you wearing this great outfit.

Also, if you are totally sunburnt and aloe is just not doing the trick, then I know a few home remedies that I can pass along to help take the sting out (it's one of the perks I have from growing up in Florida and on the beach).

Need some relief?
Being sunburnt is never fun. It's painful, hot, and it makes you peel, which is just disgusting. So, to help with all of that uncomfortableness use vinegar to take out the sting. You can use household vinegar or apple cider vinegar and soak towels in the vinegar, then lay the towels over your body and sit for about 10 to 15 minutes. You can also do this with tea or milk (it's whatever you prefer). You can also take an oatmeal bath by filling the tub with cool water and add 2 cups of oatmeal. Soak in the bath for about 30 minutes and you'll feel better than ever. Those are just a few tricks I've got up my sleeve to help you out.

Well fashionholics, I hope you're spring break was as great as mine. That's all I've got for this week. Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it.

Kisses,
Sam

Rain, Rain, Go Away

Hey there all you fashionholics,

I hope you wore those colorful pants loud and proud for the world to see! This week we are going to talk about how to wear rain boots in a cute, fashionable way. Everyone always complains when it rains because they say, "I can't dress cute when it's raining." I totally disagree. With rainy season approaching (for some it never left..sigh) I want you to wear those rain boots with confidence and poise. Let's get started, shall we?

First thing is firsts, you need to get some rain boots. Choose whatever color your little heart desires because you can always match with the right clothing and advice. All right, now that's over, lets get to the fun part, FASHION!

Rain Boots Outfit #1

Obviously, you don't have to have an embroidered rain jacket, but this outfit is colorful, comfy, and most importantly, it will keep you dry when it's raining. Not only will this outfit keep you dry, this outfit will keep your spirits held high during a gloomy day. You can mix and match any of the colors, but get some comfy leggings, a rain jacket, tank top or comfy shirt, cute scarf with some accent colors, and rain boots and your set for the rainy, icky day. Wear your hair up in a sock bun, or pony tail.
Rain Boots Outfit #2
Once again, you can choose any colors you'd like, but get some tight skinny jeans or jeggings, large white comfy shirt, and your choice of colored rain boots. Add some accessories like a long necklace and watch on your wrist if you really want to go all out. I suggest an umbrella as well if you don't want to wear a rain coat. I also would suggest you put your hair up in a sock bun or pony tail, so that it is out of the way and one less thing you have to worry about.

Well, that's all I've got for this week fashionholics, remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket, you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it.

Kisses,
Sam

Color, Color, Everywhere

Good evening my fellow fashionholics,

I hope my last post didn't bore you too much. Don't worry, this week we are back to our confessions. Now that we are in March, Spring is right around the corner, which means bright, springy colors!

Now, I know some people don't like to wear pants that match their colored easter eggs, but that's just fine. There are ways to wear colorful pants in a modest, but cute way. Let's take a look..

So cute, right? These are screaming, "Wear me, it's spring time!" If these colored pants don't get you excited, then you're not the true fashionholic I thought you were (sigh).

Colored Pants Outfit 1

This outfit is so darn cute, I can't take it. Go bold and get some green pants. Green and navy blue together is everyones favorite new color combination these days. A cute sailor striped top, navy blue cardigan, and a brown purse is a great transitioning outfit from winter to spring. Add a few bracelets for some extra sass.

Color Pants Outfit 2
This outfit is for all those ladies out there that are still stuck in cold weather, but are living vicariously through Floridians. It's alright, just sit in your car with the heat on, close your eyes, and vision yourself sitting on a beach, with a drink in your hand, your body slightly stinging from the sun's rays. Hey, a girl can dream, right? Well, moving on from our fantasy, some light pink pants with a white long sleeve shirt, a floral scarf, a gray cardigan, and brown boots is a great springy outfit. It's light and carefree, just like summer.

Well, that's all I have for you today fashionholics. Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it.

Kisses,
Sam

Lets Get Down to Business

Hey there Fashionholics,

I hope your Valentine's Day was delicious, sweet, and romantic. This week, I'm going to get a little off topic, but don't worry, next week we will get right back on track with our fashion confessions.

This week at Saint Leo University, there was an International Business Conference that we had. The session I attended had to deal with innovation in the workplace. David Harmon, who is Director and Chief Human Capital Officer of the US Federal Reserve Board of Governors was the speaker and the first sentence he said was, "You have to be open to change in the business world." That is exactly what the workplace does, it changes, and you have to be able to adapt and work with changes.

Photo of David Harmon

He talked about how companies focus on trends such as, globalization, understanding diversity, and that technology and social media are extremely important. When looking to get a job, you want to get a job that makes you feel valued and respected, sponsor advancement, genuinely invest in growth and development, and also, exposure to people of influence.
 Example of globalization

It is also very important to understand demographics in the workplace like telework (which means working from home, the library, the beach, etc.), technology, feedback, and support. Feedback was my favorite demographic because I’m a communication major and this deals with being in constant communication with a supervisor on your performance, whether it is good or bad.
Example of telework

He also went on to talk about how it is important to embrace social media and that innovation is all about technology. Technology helps you find resources through different websites, applications, and many more. One statistic that he shared with us was that, "40 percent of the United State’s population uses tablet devices." These devices are becoming more and more resourceful in the workplace, whether that is using applications through work, or collaborating with a co-worker on a smartphone.

Needless to say, I learned a lot from David Harmon at the International Business Conference. I learned that innovation, adapting, and learning about resources are all good qualities to have in the workplace and that technology in the workplace is only going to keep growing.

Kisses,
Sam

Love Is In the Air

We meet again fashionholics,

I hope you nailed your interview and you got the job! I have no doubt in my mind that you wowed them with your interview outfit. Now that the stress is over and you can relax, let's talk about love. Yup, that's right, Valentine's Day is right around the corner and it's time to get beautified for that special someone. Ladies out there who are single on this lovely holiday (get it..lovely) don't you fret. I've got an outfit for you to wear even if you're going out and hanging out with friends.

I've got two different outfits for you today and it's up to you if you want to rock them. The first outfit is mainly for a nice dinner date to a somewhat formal dinner. You are going to look classy, sleek  and oh so sexy.

Valentine's Day Outfit #1
This is a great look for Valentine's Day. It's simple, yet just enough to make people look at you as you walk by. A simple white dress, white, red, or pink shoes, and a matching clutch to be your partner in crime. Simple gold jewelry like bracelets, earrings, and a couple rings will finish this clean, sexy look. P.S. the umbrella was just for show. Please do not bring an umbrella on your date unless it is raining.

Valentine's Day Hair #1
This hair style will go great with the outfit above. Use 1-2 day old hair because the curls will hold better. Curl with a curling iron or wand and then hair spray. Take a chunk of hair from the front on both sides, twist the hair, and pull back around the crown on your head. Secure with bobby pins and spray again with hairspray.

Valentine's Day Makeup #1

For this holiday, don't be afraid to go bold. Use a light/burnt pink for eyeshadow and sheer blush for the balls of your cheek. Also, use bright pink or red lipstick to make your lips pop. This is flirty and sexy and your date won't be able to take his eyes off you.

Valentine's Day Outfit #2

This look is for all you single ladies out there who still want to look cute for Valentine's Day. Ripped, dark wash, capri jeans, a white lace top, red tote, and red shoes will show the world that even though you're single it doesn't mean you're bitter, it mean you're ready to mingle. This is fun, comfortable, and oh so cute.

Valentine's Day Hair #2
So, for this look you want some natural beach waves to keep the relaxed, chill look to the outfit. Above shows you how to get this look without using heat and it only takes a few steps to complete. Try to use somewhat damp hair, put some styling cream in there, and then begin to twist the sections on hair. Wrap the sections of hair around your head and pin with clips (make sure you put enough clips in to secure it.) Sleep with your hair like this overnight and in the morning you will have fabulous beach waves in your hair.

Valentine's Day Makeup #2
To keep that relax look, you don't want to wear bold red or pink lipstick, so keep it sheer. Wear pink eye shadow with mascara and eye liner, plus a rosy glow to your cheeks, and pretty pink lipgloss to add to your lips and BAM! You're ready for a night out with friends and you're lookin' good.

I hope you have a wonderful night out with your date/friends on Valentine's Day! Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket, you're beautiful, don't you ever forget it.

Kisses,
Sam

It's Interview Time

Welcome back fashionholics,

I bet after last week's blog, you guys wore your all-star converse with confidence! That's what I like to see! This week, I wanted to give you all advice on how to dress to an interview. What you wear to an interview is extremely important because just by the way you dress, can either seal the deal or break the deal.

First off, congratulations on getting a job interview! You're just that much closer to whatever your dreams and aspirations are. When getting ready for an interview, you want to remember the rules for attire, accessories, hair, and makeup. No worries if you don't remember what the rules are. I have them ready for you right here...

Just follow these rules and you are on the fast track to nailing this interview! Alright, enough about rules, now for the exciting part..fashion. If you don't want to wear a suit, that is totally fine; however, you need to make sure that if you wear a skirt to an interview, it is just above the knee in length. Anything higher, is too scandalous for a job interview. Let me show you that just because you're wearing a knee length skirt, doesn't mean you're going to look like a grandma.

See, I was right, wasn't I? A pencil skirt, a polka dot camisole, and a black blazer is very classy and will show the interviewers that you are professional and know how to dress well. Also, don't wear heals that will make you as tall as Shaquille O'Neal. Wear modest black shoes that you will be comfortable in and not falling on your face. That would not leave a very good first impression. To accessorize, you should wear pearl earrings and to add a pop of color, use a red handbag (or whatever color you choose).

Don't forget to match your hair to your outfit. You want to make sure your hair is brushed, straightened, put up (oh Lord, just do something with it). You don't want to look like you just rolled out of bed. A simple french twist will look super classy with this outfit. Here's a quick step by step...

Also, a great makeup tip for an interview is to make it appear as if you're not wearing any makeup. Keep it modest, sheer, and light. Here's an example of what your makeup should look like..

Alright fashionholics, it's time to let the baby bird out of the nest and let them fly on their own. Good luck at your job interview. You're going to do great. Remember to always have your confidence in your back pocket and that you're beautiful no matter what, don't you ever forget it.

Kisses,
Sam
